Summary
The Residential Clean Energy Rebate Program in Maryland provides financial incentives to homeowners who install solar photovoltaic, solar water-heating, geothermal heating and cooling systems, and clean-burning stoves in their primary residence.
In Fiscal Year 2022, approximately $2.55 million is available for the residential program and $400,000 is available for the commercial program on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is currently developing their suite of fiscal year 2023 programs, which will be launched as they are developed. For updates, interested individuals may join their newsletter, follow them on social media, or bookmark their website or news page.
Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant(s) must be legal residents of the United States and own a home in Maryland.
- The clean energy system being installed must be eligible under the program guidelines, which include solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, solar water heating systems, geothermal heating and cooling systems, and wind turbines.
- The installer of the clean energy system must be licensed and insured in Maryland and have relevant certifications for the type of system being installed.
- The installation of the clean energy system must be permitted and inspected in accordance with local and state codes.
- The total project cost must meet the minimum and maximum grant award amounts specified by the program, and the grant award cannot exceed 30% of the total eligible project cost.
- The applicant(s) must also comply with all program requirements and guidelines, which may include submission of a complete application, payment of any required application fees, and submission of all required documentation.
